The Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator is one product that I have been keen to try, but I have been holding out for the Gilded Honey shade! I finally got my hands on it and I wasn’t disappointed. For starters, it is just so pretty. One of the things I love about the Laura Geller brand is that, in this age of super sophisticated packaging, they keep the container really simple and make the product itself a work of art. Whist the packaging is simply black with a clear flip top lid, the powder is made to resemble the swirl of Gelato ice cream. What is more pleasing is that the pattern is not just limited to the top layer. As you work your way through the product the pattern remains in place the deeper you go, meaning that it stays beautiful.
The product itself is a very smooth powder, irridecent in appearance with a tiny, almost undetectable glitter content. It feels like suede to the touch! Once applied, the glitter does not transfer in an offensive manner, it simply gives a beautiful sheen to the skin. Gilded Honey is a true gold and the colour transfers well, particular on darker skin although it makes my pale skin glisten to!
As a highlighter, this product is extremely effective. It can be applied with fingertips or a brush, personally I prefer a brush. Once applied if feels more like a cream and blends very easily. I wear this product for day and evening but if I want to give it a little more of a kick I use it to set a cream highlighter on my cheekbones which gives an almost mirror finish with this product. It also looks great dusted down the bridge of the nose, the cupids bow and even the collarbone, just apply anywhere you want to sparkle! This is also a really good choice to use for the final ‘pop’ if you are layering your highlighter. Just start with a cream highlight base, set with a fool proof power such as Mac Soft & Gentle and then dust the Gelato Illuminator at the very highest point of your cheekbone.
I am a huge highlighter fan, I have many and like to try a variety. The Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator certainly ranks very highly and is something I can’t imagine not having in my collection. Once tried, you won’t want to be without it……and it is certainly one of the best looking products in my collection!
I am now very keen to try other shades of the Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator. What shades have you tried and can recommend?
