There are so may things to love about the Benefit Cheekathon palette. Not only is it exceptionally good value for money with five best selling Benefit powders for just £44.50 (they retail at £23.50 each when sold individually), it also has it’s own large, super handy mirror and is so unashamedly girlie I want to spritz it with perfume and wrap it in silk!
Cheekathon is a palette of Benefit’s legendary face powders, each with it’s own identity and function. The powders can be used individually or to complement each other depending on the look you are going for. As mentioned, the palette represents exceptionally good value as the powers are full size and when I compared the Coralista powder in the palette to the individual one that I already have in my collection, I found no difference in quality either in appearance or when applied.
Before moving onto the powders themselves, I have to give a nod to the packaging, it is amazing! The front of the box (it is a strong cardboard) displays dancing girls each brandishing their own favourite of the powders inside. Once you open the lid the products are beautifully displayed and I particularly love the pretty mirror on the inside of the lid. This is a great size and if needed could be used to apply a full face of make up. Whether I choose to use it or not, I am always really disappointed if a palette does not have a mirror, it just doesn’t feel complete. In addition to this, the palette comes with a little booklet of tips on how to use the powders and get the best out of them.
So, who are the powders? Well, there are five of them in total, with the sixth compartment filled with a handy little brush. Whilst this may come in useful for travelling, I never really gel with the brushes that arrive with the products, I am a huge believer that you get what you pay for when it comes to quality make up applicators.
Let’s get to know the products:-
This powder is one of my favourites. It is a pink face powder that can fake a fresh, bright look. It is baby pink in colour with a slight dusky appearance in the palette. It is brightening but matte without a hint of glitter. Once applied it has a brightening effect on the skin and can be used just on the cheeks for a little ‘perk me up’, however, my favourite way to use this powder is to lightly apply it all over the face as a finishing powder to add a beautiful radiance to the skin.
This is a fantastic matte bronzer. It can be applied all over the face on the areas that would naturally catch the sun for a sun kissed, just back from the beach look. This is also a great powder to contour with due to the matte pale brown shade and the fact it is so blend-able and easy to work with. It is also great on a variety of skin tones.
Rockateur is the most eye catching powder in this palette, due to both the ‘Rock’ pattern and the sparkly rose gold shade. This powder is truly beautiful and is perfect to brighten any complexion as it adds a disco ball like sheen to the skin. If you are feeling bold it can be used as a cheek blusher for an attention grabbing look or for a more subtle approach it can be used as a highlighter on the areas you want to see ‘pop’.
This is a blusher and bronzer in one. It has a reddish brown tone and although it doesn’t work for me as a blusher (I prefer something much more pink in tone) it would be nice for anyone going for a neutral or bronzy look. As a bronzer this powder has a little more red than Hoola and has an ever so slight sheen and is a lovely product for adding a little colour to the face without going too dramatic.
Last but by no means least is Coralita. This blusher is fantastic. It brightens any skin tone when applied to the cheeks and although the colour looks a little scary in the palette, when applied it comes out as a lovely pink coral. It can flatter any skin tone from pale to tanned.
The Cheekathon palette is a must have for anyone that loves Benefit powders.
