I was lucky enough to enjoy a weekend in London on the last weekend before Christmas. Living in the North it is always a real treat to take a trip to the capital, even though some Northern Cities are becoming very cosmopolitan, there is something special about the buzz of London.
I stayed in a hotel in the Docklands area as I was attending the Simply Red show at the 02 Arena. This worked out well for me as I had never visited this part of London before and was really impressed with what the Docklands has to offer. One of the highlights of my trip was arriving at the 02 Arena via the cable car, the view is just amazing (see the main photo!) and it is such a special way to arrive seeing the Arena from a ‘birds eye’ view and the city of London lit up against the night sky.
I was lucky enough to enjoy the show from a private executive box at the 02 and the experience was amazing. It is such an impressive venue and to have access to a private box allowed us to enjoy the show in a really comfortable environment and was the highlight of my trip.
The following day my husband and I spent a relaxing day in London and enjoyed a midday treat in Ca’puccino on Tottenham Court Road. Being from the North I don’t get a lot of opportunity to visit Ca’puccino as they currently only have locations in London in the UK, but it is well worth the wait! Ca’puccino is an authentic Italian Cafe/Restaurant which offers an all day food and drinks menu. The food is from various regions across Italy, although the highlight for me is the dessert menu. The decor is a mixture of charming and classy, with a deli style counter and cream studded chairs paired with marble effect tables. This is relaxed glamour at its best. As it was early in the day and not long after breakfast I decided to go for the Seasonal Fruit Cup, which is seasonal fruit floating on dark melted chocolate topped with whipped cream. It is a chocolate lovers heaven and was delicious.
There are six Ca’puccino’s across London and I would definitely recommend a visit if you are looking for relaxed dining in London and they can be found in some prestigious locations including inside the Harrods department store.
As I only had a short stay in London I am hoping to get back very soon and sample some more delights of the Capital, it really is a fantastic city and one that I definitely like to keep in touch with.
